International Shipping Policy

Books and You ships orders to countries around the world. We take responsibility for processing and dispatching your order and will provide tracking information to help you follow your shipment until delivery. International deliveries are subject to the terms and conditions outlined below.

1. International Shipping

All international orders are shipped through India Post, subject to service availability and applicable postal regulations. Shipments are generally sent by parcel and can be tracked using the consignment number shared with you after dispatch. Tracking may be available through India Post and the destination country's national postal service.

Shipping services, routes, and delivery options are subject to availability and applicable restrictions in the origin and destination countries.

2. International Shipping Charges

For orders delivered outside India, shipping charges are calculated based on the weight of the package and other applicable shipping factors.

The applicable shipping charges will be displayed at checkout once you enter your delivery address and other required details. These charges cover shipping only and do not include customs duties, import taxes, VAT/GST, customs clearance fees, or any other charges imposed by the destination country or its authorities, unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout.

3. Customs Duties, Import Taxes and Other Charges

All customs duties, import duties, VAT/GST, customs clearance fees, and other taxes or charges levied by the destination country are the customer's responsibility. These charges are not included in the shipping fee paid to Books and You and may be payable separately to the relevant customs authority, postal service, courier, or other designated agency.

The applicable charges, if any, depend on the destination country's laws, regulations, customs valuation rules, and import procedures. Books and You cannot determine or guarantee the amount of such charges in advance.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the ordered products can be legally imported into the destination country and for complying with all applicable import requirements. If additional documentation or payment is required by the destination country's authorities, the customer must fulfil those requirements.

If a shipment is delayed, held, or returned because the customer does not pay applicable duties or taxes, provide required documentation, or comply with import requirements, Books and You will not be responsible for the resulting delay or additional costs. Any refund, return, or reshipping request in such circumstances will be assessed in accordance with our applicable policies and legal obligations.

4. International Delivery Timelines

The usual estimated delivery time for international orders is 10–20 business days from dispatch, depending on the destination country, postal service availability, customs clearance, and local delivery conditions.

These timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Delivery may take longer due to customs inspections, postal service disruptions, public holidays, weather conditions, transportation delays, regulatory requirements, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

5. Delays, Tracking and Delivery Issues

Books and You will share the shipment's consignment number once the order has been dispatched. Customers can use this number to track the shipment through the available postal tracking services.

If a shipment is delayed, tracking information is not updated, or delivery is affected by customs or postal procedures, customers are encouraged to contact us through email at info@booksandyou.in, or WhatsApp at +91 87122 28707. We will make reasonable efforts to assist with shipment enquiries and follow up with the relevant postal service where possible.

Delivery estimates may be affected by events outside our reasonable control. However, nothing in this policy excludes or limits any consumer rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

By placing an international order, the customer acknowledges that destination-country duties, taxes, and import-related charges are separate from the shipping charges displayed at checkout and are payable by the customer where applicable.

 

Domestic Shipping Policy (Within India)

Books and You delivers books across India through India Post and private courier partners, subject to service availability at the delivery address. Shipments are sent through registered parcel or courier services, wherever available, and can be tracked using the tracking number shared after dispatch.

1. Shipping Charges

Shipping charges for domestic orders are as follows:

  • Orders of ₹350 and above: Free standard shipping on eligible paid orders, excluding textbook orders subject to weight-based shipping charges. Orders are generally dispatched within 1–2 business days, subject to product availability and order verification.

  • Orders below ₹350: A flat shipping fee of ₹60 applies.

  • North-Eastern states, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman Islands and Lakshadweep: A flat shipping fee of ₹75 applies to orders below ₹350.

  • Textbook orders: Shipping charges apply based on the weight and shipping requirements of the parcel. The applicable charges will be communicated or displayed at checkout, as applicable.

Shipping charges may vary for certain products, destinations, or delivery services. Any applicable charges will be communicated before the order is confirmed.

2. Expedited Shipping

Expedited shipping through Blue Dart Air may be available on request for an additional charge, subject to service availability at the delivery address.

Please contact us through WhatsApp to check availability and obtain a shipping quote before placing or confirming your order. Expedited shipping is subject to the courier's service coverage and delivery commitments.

3. Cash on Delivery (COD)

Cash on Delivery (COD) is available on eligible orders above ₹ 500 and is subject to order verification and service availability at the delivery address. An additional COD service charge will apply depending on the order value.

To confirm a COD order, an advance payment of 10% of the total shipment value is required. Our team will contact you during the order verification process to arrange this payment. The remaining balance is payable upon delivery.

A COD order will be processed for dispatch after the required advance payment has been received and the order has been verified. Any applicable COD charges will be communicated before the order is confirmed.

4. Dispatch and Delivery Timelines

In-stock items

Orders containing in-stock items are generally dispatched within 1–2 business days after order placement and payment confirmation, subject to order verification and operational requirements.

After dispatch, estimated delivery timelines are as follows:

  • Telangana / AP and South India: 2–7 business days

  • Central, West, East and North India: 4–10 business days

  • North-Eastern states, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman Islands and Lakshadweep: 10–20 business days

The overall delivery time for domestic orders is generally 2–20 business days, depending on the destination, shipping service and product availability.

These timelines are estimates and are not guaranteed. Actual delivery times may vary due to courier operations, weather conditions, public holidays, transportation disruptions, remote-area delivery requirements or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Out-of-stock items

Items that are not currently in stock may require additional processing time, depending on availability with our suppliers. We will make reasonable efforts to source these items and dispatch them as soon as possible. Delivery timelines for such orders may exceed the estimates stated above.

5. Tracking and Delivery Assistance

Once your order has been dispatched, we will share the available tracking number so that you can monitor the shipment through the relevant postal service or courier partner.

6. Business Days

For the purpose of dispatch and delivery estimates, business days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Saturdays and Sundays are not counted as business days unless expressly stated otherwise.

Delivery timelines are indicative and may be affected by factors outside our reasonable control. We will make reasonable efforts to process and dispatch orders promptly and assist customers with delivery-related enquiries.
