The Devas and the Asuras, also known as daityas, are stepbrothers, born from Aditi and Diti, the wives of sage Kashyapa. Despite being siblings, they are constantly at war with each other, as narrated in numerous accounts in the Puranas. The Asuras seek boons from the gods to acquire power, but when they misuse it, they often face defeat at the hands of the same gods they once appeased.
