Literary awards - Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Nominee for Shortlist (2010).
In The Dark is a gripping and suspense-filled novel from the bestselling author Mark Billingham. On a rainy night in London, a chilling gang initiation goes horribly wrong when a car is shot at and swerves into a bus stop, killing an innocent victim. But what appears to be a senseless act of violence is far more sinister.
The story unfolds as three lives are changed forever. A young man, caught in the act, is haunted by the consequences of his actions. An ageing gangster, plotting his revenge, lurks in the shadows. And a pregnant woman, just two weeks away from giving birth, embarks on a desperate search for the truth. As she uncovers dark secrets, she must navigate a city rife with violence, loyalty, and betrayal. In a world where nothing is as it seems, and with a twist that will leave you breathless, In The Dark is an unputdownable thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final page.
