Ladybird Favourite Tales : Rapunzel (P)

This is the story of Rapunzel, a classic fairytale that has been beloved by generations. In this version, a pregnant woman craves a specific plant called "rapunzel" from her neighbor's garden. Desperate to satisfy her craving, her husband steals some, but they are caught by the garden's owner, a witch. The witch agrees to let him take the rapunzel, but only under the condition that when their child is born, it will be given to her.

As the child, Rapunzel, grows, she is taken to a tall tower by the witch and kept there in isolation. The witch visits Rapunzel regularly, and the girl lets down her long hair so the witch can climb up. However, a prince, who hears Rapunzel singing from the tower, discovers her secret and begins visiting her. Eventually, they find a way to escape from the witch's grasp.
