Welcome to the most unconventional high school reunion you’ll ever attend—an exclusive gathering aboard a converted North Sea oil rig, now an ambitious luxury tourist resort. Gavin Hutchinson’s brainchild is meant to showcase the ultimate “holiday-at-home” experience. Instead, it becomes a stage for mayhem when uninvited guests—hapless terrorist mercenaries—crash the party with their own chaotic agenda.
What begins as a nostalgic trip down memory lane quickly spirals into pandemonium, as former classmates navigate explosive situations, both literal and figurative. Amidst the carnage, Inspector MacGregor races against time to restore order, unaware that the greatest threats may come from within.
Packed with Brookmyre’s signature dark humor, razor-sharp wit, and nail-biting twists, One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night is a riotous thriller where no one escapes unscathed—and everyone’s secrets come to light. This is high-octane satire at its finest.
