About This Book

Born into the family of a village barber, Adhir Biswas recalls his life after migrating with his family from erstwhile East Pakistan. While helping his father attract customers to the family's hair salon, he also faced the expectations placed upon him as the son who might escape poverty through education. Yet school became a place where caste prejudice constantly reminded him of his social position, symbolised by the last bench where he was made to sit alone.
